The first section on the TOEFL iBT is the Reading section. The Reading section contains three passages, which are each followed by a set of questions. Each question in the set is worth one point, with the exception of the last question in each set, which is always worth more than one point.
You will have 20 minutes to complete the first passage, and 40 minutes to complete the remaining two passages.
- Reading Passages are long essays (around 600-700 words each) on academic topics from the arts and sciences.
- Reading Questions ask about pronoun reference; the meaning of vocabulary and sentences; the topic, purpose, organization and structure of the passage; stated and implied details; inferences; and where sentences should be inserted in the passage.
The inlingua TOEFL iBT course will teach you how to read TOEFL iBT Reading passages effectively and efficiently. In addition, you will learn powerful skills and strategies to help you correctly answer each TOEFL iBT Reading question type.
