The second section on the TOEFL iBT is the Listening section. The Listening section contains six passages, which are each followed by five or six questions. Because you get to listen to each passage only once, you should take careful notes as you listen to the passages to help you answer the questions that follow.
- Listening Passages are either 2-3 minute conversations that take place outside of the classroom, or longer 4-5 minute academic lectures that take place inside a classroom in an academic setting, usually in a college or university. The Listening section is divided into two parts. Each part of Listening the section contains one short conversation and two longer lectures.
- Listening Questions ask about the main idea of the passage, details and inferences, the structure and organization of ideas contained within the passage, or a speaker's role or viewpoint.
In your inlingua TOEFL iBT course, you will learn how to actively listen to TOEFL iBT Listening passages, take effective notes as you listen, and correctly answer each type of Listening question. You will also learn how to use the visuals that accompany passages to help you understand what you hear, and how to manage questions that you don't fully understand.
